Washington State Patrol responded to a report of a single-motorcycle accident about 1:40pm this afternoon on southbound I-5 5 miles north of Burlington.
According to the trooper’s report, Todd Allen Benson, age 47, of Ferndale was ejected from his 1991 Honda CBR motorcycle when it left the roadway at a high rate of speed. Benson suffered serious neck and upper body injuries and was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital. He was later airlifted to Harborview Hospital in Seattle.
Benson was reported to have been wearing a helmet. Drugs and/or alcohol are suspected to be a factor according to the WSP. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
