FERNDALE, Wash. — Officials with City of Ferndale announced Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) will be in the field next to the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center Thursday, August 12th, between 6:15pm and 7:15pm to provide a cooling spray from their fire hoses for anyone seeking relief from the heat.
WCFD7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman said they are planning to bring their popular ladder truck along with others so there will be plenty of cool water spray available.
This is a repeat of a similar event WCFD7 organized in late June during a multi-day heatwave.
The event is scheduled to happen following Thursday afternoon’s expected record-setting 90°+ high temperatures. The current record high for August 12th at Bellingham International Airport is 84°.
Officials with the City of Ferndale say they will be handing out water bottles at the event.
