FERNDALE, Wash. — Dignitaries from the Ferndale School District, City of Ferndale and Lummi Nation along with current and past Ferndale High School students gathered on the Ferndale High School campus on April 27th for a groundbreaking ceremony.

Attendees gathered inside Memorial Field to celebrate the beginning of construction of the new Ferndale High School building.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for the groundbreaking, including so many of the community members who have played parts in turning the dream of a new high school into a reality — members of the Bond Task Force who planned the bond package; the Citizens’ Committee who worked so hard to get it passed; the Bond Oversight Committee who are helping to ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget, and as promised; and the School Board who have provided unwavering leadership through all of it.Ferndale School District website

Staging of earthmoving equipment and fencing being install have been visible signs of the start of construction phase of the project. A webcam has been installed on the roof of the Performing Arts Building to provide the community with a live video feed of the work area. This will include demolition of the grandstand and nearby concession stand.
