Power was knocked out when a large tree fell across Grandview Road this morning.
A large fallen tree was first reported by a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputy driving on Grandview Road after the tree had just fallen across the roadway west of N Star Road. According to radio communication between WhatComm dispatch and the deputy, the tree stretched across the road blocking both lanes and took down power lines. The power lines were arcing and started a grass fire near a structure.

As of the time of this article (12pm), the roadway remained closed with traffic being detoured via N Star Road, Brown Road and Kickerville Road. Fire, Washington State Department of Transportation and Puget Sound Energy crews were on scene.
PSE is reporting 300 people are without power as the result of an outage that began at the time the tree fell. Impacted residences are between Grandview Road and Mountain View Road and between Kickerville Road and Aldergrove Road. No estimate for restoring power has been given.
