FERNDALE, Wash. — Crews from Doolittle Construction are planning to put down the new oil and gravel surface on Grandview Road (SR548) between N Star Road and the Blaine Road roundabout this Friday, August 9th. Long delays can be expected as a result.
WSDOT warned 20- to 45-minute delays through the work zone are possible between 5am and 5pm.
This is the second stage of roadwork that began in May.
Crews need dry conditions and warm temperatures to place a mixture of oil, sand and gravel on the road to form the new asphalt. The new surface is then allowed to adhere to the road surface and dry before the traffic lanes can be reopened.
Aaron Kindt of Doolittle Construction said the work had originally been planned for last Friday but rain in the forecast resulted in the work being rescheduled to this week.
