Everson Police take to social media to debunk claims of shooting

EVERSON, Wash. — Everson Police took to social media today, January 23, 2025, to clarify information around an earlier incident. Some people on social media were leading others to believe there had been gunshots around an area where a large gathering of law enforcement vehicles was seen.

This morning, we wanted to jump on and debunk some rumors we have seen floating around the Facebook world. Multiple people had posted they heard gunshots and seen lots of law enforcement on Nooksack Avenue. There was not a shooting.

At approximately 2047 hours on 1/22/2024, officers were dispatched to a CPR in progress call in the 700 block of Nooksack Avenue. Upon arrival, Everson PD, Sumas PD and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office assisted with CPR and attached an AED. Soon after, Whatcom County Fire District 1 arrived and took over. The male subject was transported to the hospital and unfortunately was pronounced deceased at the hospital. During this incident, another household member had a medical emergency and was also transported to the hospital. Upon initial investigation, no foul play is suspected. The Medical Examiner’s office has taken over the investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
