LYNDEN, Wash. — Firefighters were dispatched to the 9100 block of Axling Road in Lynden about 3:10am, Sunday, June 11th, due to a reported structure fire.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue (NWFR) Division Chief Shaun Ward told Whatcom News that NWFR, along with Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) and the City of Lynden Fire Department, responded. The first to arrive found a fully involved detached garage/shop fire and began extinguishing the fire. Tender support from NWFR and WCFD7 was immediately requested to provide the needed water supply to the defensive firefighting effort.

[We received a] Super response from the tender group. At one point, there were 2 tenders from WCFD7 and 3 from NWFR. North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Division Chief Shaun Ward

The fire was contained to the garage/shop building. There were no injuries to firefighters or the homeowner. Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
