According to the Washington State Patrol, 3 people were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle this morning after the car they were in struck a tree. This is the second car vs tree crash in just over 24 hours, with both locations about 4 miles apart.
A WSP report released this morning said a 2005 gray Nissan Murano was heading south in the 4400 block of Lummi Shore Drive when it drove off the roadway on the left side and struck a tree. Fire and aid units were dispatched to the scene around 1:30am.
Transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle were the driver, Coralise M Almojera, age 25, and the passengers, Mollie R Cline, age 51, and Thomas H Cline, age 50. According to the report, Almojera and Mollie Cline are from Deming and Thomas Cline is from Bellingham.
Thomas Cline was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt and the other two occupants were not. A neighbor who lives near where the crash occurred posted to social media that it appeared to take about 45 minutes for fire and aid crews to extract the driver from the wreckage.
No further details on their injuries or conditions were available when this article posted.
The cause of the crash was listed as speed and driving under the influence. The vehicle was impounded and considered a total loss. WSP reports charges are pending.
