FERNDALE, Wash. — As this story is being written, volunteers from the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce and Whatcom County Fire District 7 are busy installing flower baskets throughout downtown Ferndale.

Chamber Program Coordinator Marcela Boulos said over 110 flower baskets were being installed today, May 15th.

WCFD7 firefighters could be seen on ladders and a motorized lift hoisting the baskets to their mounts.

Chamber Executive Director Anya Milton said, after Bob Curtis passed last year, they hired Forrest Pederson to oversee caring for the baskets starting this year. Pederson could be seen heading out to begin his regular duties this morning.

The baskets typically remain up until September.

Thank you volunteers for putting up those beautiful baskets. I look forward to seeing them every year. There is a lot of work growing them, nurturing them and hanging. Then go around a water two or three times a week, so every one needs to thank them.
