BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a report of lines having been pulled down by a vehicle resulting in at least 1 line blocking traffic in the 1500 block of Mount Baker Highway (SR542) about 6:25am on Thursday, June 9th.

Initial radioed reports from a Washington State Patrol trooper at the scene were that a telephone line was about 5-feet off the ground across the road and power lines on a connected power pole had been sparking. Traffic was being detoured around the area.
Puget Sound Energy reported an outage in the area impacting over 2,800 customer addresses. It reportedly began about 6:10am.

Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation reported both lanes were reopened by 7am.
This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
