This morning Ferndale Dollar Tree employees arrived to work to discover the store’s safe missing.
Later this morning, Ferndale Public Works employees could be seen retrieving the unopened safe from the buffer area between the Haggen parking lot and the Dollar Tree store. It was wheeled by hand truck back into the store.
It was last November when employees had arrived to discover the safe had been opened.
Given today’s incident remains under investigation, there were few details Ferndale Police could reveal except to confirm there had been a burglary and no one was injured. Regarding the November burglary, police did say they had several leads and evidence which was sent to the state crime lab. But none of the leads or evidence “panned out” so that case is no longer under investigation.
A sign on the Dollar Tree entrance doors indicated they expected to resume business by noon today.
