Police and Ferndale School District officials say they are actively investigating an online conversation said to contain a statement that could be interpreted as a threat.
The District says an email (see below) has been sent to Ferndale High School parents and guardians informing them of the situation. Officials with the District say a screen capture of an online conversation has been shared via social media among Ferndale High School students. This was ultimately reported to Ferndale High School administration and they contacted Ferndale Police.
District officials say Ferndale Police are actively investigating and will have a increased presence on the Ferndale High School campus throughout the day today, February 22nd. Extra support for students and staff is also being provided in light of recent school events across the nation.
Officials point out that this is separate from a widespread hoax school threat message that has been making the rounds on social media.
