Did you sustain damage due to any of the December wind events?

Whatcom Unified Emergency Management officials are asking individuals and businesses in the Whatcom County area to report damage sustained during the recent windstorms between December 10th and 25th.

After the storm that drove water and debris over the seawall and onto Birch Bay Drive and into some businesses on Thursday, December 20th, Whatcom County Executive Jack Louws issued a Whatcom County Local Proclamation of Emergency. Such a proclamation makes some property damage repairs eligible for loans that would otherwise not be available.

However, Whatcom County was not the only area impacted so information collected from these calls will be used to determine state-wide eligibility for federal disaster relief.

Calls should be made to the Whatcom Unified Emergency Coordination Center Damage Assessment line at (360) 788-5311. Callers will be routed to voice mail where they can leave a message with name, phone number, address and the best time to return the call. Calls will be returned starting January 2, 2019.
