A Whatcom County Public Works announcement today, July 24th, warns drivers to be prepared for a road closure of about 3 weeks beginning mid-August as work is scheduled to replace a culvert under Northwest Drive at a location south of Slater Road.

A detour via Mahogany Avenue (behind the Costco store location), Pacific Highway and Slater Road will carry traffic around the work site during the closure.

In the area of the culvert work, Whatcom County Public Works also plans to repave portions of Northwest Drive from July through September 2020. The affected portion of Northwest Drive is from Beaumont Drive to Slater Road. A portion of Slater Road from Northwest Drive to Pacific Highway will also be repaved during this time.

Drivers can expect delays on these and surrounding roads while this work is being carried out and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
