
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Nearly 5,000 students at Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College and Western Washington University who are Pell Grant recipients are now also eligible for high-speed Internet service for about $10/month and an option to purchase a new laptop for about $150.
Comcast officials announced today, September 22nd, Pell Grant recipients will join more than 15,200 in Whatcom County who have signed up for Comcast’s Internet Essentials program. The offer is limited to residences within the Comcast service area.
Internet Essentials is a nationwide program that launched in 2011 and now connects more than 10 million low-income residences to broadband Internet, some for the very first time.
