Last year, City of Ferndale officials made a startling revelation mid-summer. Water reservoirs that had previously remained full year-round were showing less than full levels following record-breaking warm weather. Emergency meetings of city staff and city councilmembers were held and it was decided to, for the first time in recent history, to switch from a voluntary to a mandatory watering schedule for city property owners.
This year in March, the Ferndale City Council discussed and approved implementing a mandatory watering schedule again this year from June 1st to September 15th.
During the restricted water use period, city water service customers with odd-numbered addresses are to water only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays while even-numbered addresses are to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Watering is also restricted to after 5pm and before 10am and for a period of no longer than 30 minutes.

There are exceptions granted. According to city staff, the restrictions do not apply to
- newly planted lawn
- flower and vegetable gardens
- drip irrigation systems and hand watering
- outdoor potted plants and hanging baskets
Penalties established for violations of the watering restrictions are a written warning for the first offense, $50 for the 2nd offense, and $125 for the 3rd and subsequent offense(s).
So how to water between 5 pm and 10 am on the same day ….is it possible….clarify please
Yep, kind of confusing wording but it means no watering between 10am and 5pm.
