UPDATE 3/3/2016
The city says they have ended the search for the owner or origin of the bronze statue.
We received a number of leads, including places where people had seen similar statues (like the Birch Bay Mall and various local banks) and possible sculptors who created the statue. Unfortunately, none of them panned out. With no one stepping forward to claim the statue and little information about its origins, the City will proceed with plans to make Huckleberry a permanent part of the Star Park.

Original story:
Back in August of 2014, a Ferndale neighbor discovered someone had left them a present in their backyard. It was a bronze statue of a young man.
Ferndale police were notified and after some failed attempts to locate an owner placed it in storage. Now city staff are attempting again to locate an owner or discover information regarding the statue’s origin.
The young man is dressed in what appears to be a collared buttoned pullover shirt, wearing a baseball-style cap, baggy pants and socks and shoes. While shown reclining in a chair in the picture provided by the city, it appears the statue is intended to be posed upright.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Riley Sweeney at the City of Ferndale (rileysweeney@cityofferndale.org or (360) 384-4302).
