At tonight’s Ferndale City Council meeting, an agenda item was the second request from the Lummi Nation for the city to vacate Kope Road.

A number of people spoke during the public hearing, mostly representing the Lummi Nation’s position.

The council went into executive session for about 30 minutes to discuss the potential real estate transaction. Councilmember Teresa Taylor recused herself due to her position as an employee of the Lummi Nation.

Upon returning from executive session, Mayor Jon Mutchler asked the council if anyone would make the motion to vacate Kope Road. After a few seconds of silence the mayor noted no motion appeared forthcoming and closed the item on the agenda.
