The Ferndale City Council needed to fill 2 of their 7 seats for the remainder of the year after the resignations of Fred Kennedy and Cathy Watson this year.
At tonight’s regular meeting of the City Council, several applicants had the opportunity to address the councilmembers. Afterwards, the councilmembers went into executive session to discuss the applicants. Upon returning, Gary Jensen and Carol Bersch were nominated for position 7 on the council. After a 3-2 vote, Carol Bersch was appointed.
Gary Jensen was then the only nominee for position 5 and appointed by unanimous vote of the councilmembers.
Both Bersch and Jensen have previously served as city councilmembers in years past and Jensen also served 2 terms as Mayor of Ferndale.
Bersch and Jensen were sworn in by Ferndale City Clerk Susan Duncan (photos below) and immediately took their places on the council.
