During July of last year, Ferndale Denny’s Restaurant franchisees announced they were closing the restaurant at 5720 Barrett Road.

Recently, documents from GPD Group, on behalf of Northwest Restaurants, Inc., were submitted for review by City of Ferndale staff regarding a proposed project to demolish the existing Denny’s Restaurant building and build a “2,700 SF quick serve Mexican restaurant, with associated parking and drive-thru services,” on the site.

Additional details in the documents submitted to the City identify the brand expected to occupy the new building as Taco Bell.

The project site is adjacent to the Ferndale McDonalds who recently began an interior remodel.

Another fast food business, Taco Time, was recently issued a building permit for a new location on Riverside Drive.

Northwest Restaurants, Inc. of Woodinville, Washington, operates 150 restaurant locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah under the brands KFC, Taco Bell, A&W, Pizza Hut and Long John Silver’s according to the company’s website.
