BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 7:45pm on Saturday, September 14th, to Chuckanut Drive (SR11) near Soundview Road due to a report of a 2-car head-on crash.

The Washington State Patrol reported a 2024 BMW M4 coupe with a driver and 1 passenger was southbound on Chuckanut Drive approaching Soundview Road when it lost control and went into an oncoming 2020 Hyundai Tucson SUV with a driver and 3 passengers.

All occupants of the Hyundai were transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center including a 2-year-old and a 7-year-old. Neither of the occupants of the BMW were reported to have been injured. Occupants of both cars were reported to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The WSP reported the cause of the crash was reckless driving and neither drugs nor alcohol were involved.

Both lanes of Chuckanut Drive were closed for over 5 hours, reopening after 1am.

The driver of the BMW, Nathan Singh, age 20 and of Yakima, was arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Jail charged with vehicular assault.
