Officials with the Bellingham Police Department announced today that former Ferndale Police Chief Michael Knapp’s name has been added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Knapp died November 6th, the day after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a Lynden street. He was 79.
The names will be dedicated during a livestreamed virtual Candlelight Vigil today, Wednesday, May 13th, at 5pm (PDT). The names of each of the men and women who died in the line of duty during 2019 will be read aloud (click below to view).
The dedication ceremony is typically held on the National Mall with more than 30,000 first responders, surviving families and law enforcement supporters in attendance organizers said.
