FERNDALE, Wash. — New play equipment is scheduled to be installed on the south side of Cedar Creek Park adjacent to the sidewalk according to city staff and will include a rope climbing structure, log walk and a slide.
Cedar Creek Park, located off of Apollo Drive, was included in an assessment in 2018 by the City of Ferndale Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board (PRTAB) of all play equipment installations and identified as having the greatest need.
The park’s current play equipment, according PRTAB’s findings, is in a location with poor visibility and has been the target of repeated vandalism.
City Council approved the expenditure of about $61,000 toward new equipment during their April 1st regular meeting.
Installation of the new equipment is expected to begin in September. An Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant parking space and trail will also be installed to comply with ADA requirements. It is hoped the play equipment will be available for use in October.
