Car vs pole crash on Douglas Road sends 1 to the hospital

FERNDALE, Wash. — Initial details are few after aid and law enforcement were dispatched to a report of a crash in the 2300 block of Douglas Road shortly after 3:30pm today, August 29th.

Visible at the scene was a Mercedes passenger vehicle with substantial front end damage after appearing to have drive head-on into a power pole.

The power pole sustained extensive damage as well. The backside of the pole laid on the side of the road several feet from the pole appearing to have separated from the pole due to the force of the impact. Several feet of the top of the pole and the attached cross arms could be seen separated from the main pole and supported by the attached wires.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 crews responded and reported 1 patient was transported from the scene by a medic unit under advanced life support protocol to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

Ferndale Police were continuing to investigate at the time this story was published.

Puget Sound Energy reported 298 of their customers were without power as a result of the crash. As of 4:35pm, they estimated power would be restored by 11pm.
