SUMAS, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 12:05pm due to a report of a vehicle versus tree and a power pole crash on Reese Hill Road (SR547).

Initial unconfirmed reports from the scene were that there was at least 1 injured person, and a power pole and lines were down.
As of 12:25pm, Washington State Patrol was on scene and reported 1 of the 2 lanes was blocked.
WSP Trooper Jacob Kennett told Whatcom News the vehicle was northbound on Reese Hill Road and the driver became distracted inside the vehicle while maneuvering on a curve and left the roadway, over corrected, struck the power pole and then a tree. The driver was transported by ambulance from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Puget Sound Energy reported over 70 of their customers’ addresses were without power in the immediate area.
