BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the dead end of Broadway about 9:45pm on Tuesday, May 2nd, due to a report of a car crash.

Bellingham Police Department (BPD) Deputy Chief Don Almer told Whatcom News via email a vehicle reportedly drove through a small park area, a retaining wall and down the cliffside.
Almer said the driver told BPD officers they had mistook where they were, proceeded west through the intersection at Eldridge Avenue only to realize too late that they had run out of road.
Debris from the crash could be seen near railroad tracks running parallel to Roeder Avenue at the bottom of the cliff.
Almer said the driver had no visible injuries but was advised to go to the hospital by BPD officers due to the nature of the crash.
Officers did not observe any impairment and the driver was cited for inattentive driving.
