Neighbors in east Ferndale were rudely awaken by the commotion of a high-speed pursuit just after midnight Thursday, August 20th.
The following are taken from radio dispatch communications posted by Whatcom Scanner Report

– Pursuit west bound Cordata & Kellogg12:19am
– Now north on NW – ran the stop sign
– 90 MPH
– Passenger has the door open throwing things out12:20am
– Now ran Slater stop sign
– Approaching Smith12:21am
– Blue 91 Honda civic
– Now ran stop at Axton, continuing north
– Now east on W Laurel
12:23am
–Now southbound on Aldrich12:24am
–Now on foot passenger in custody in the cemetery12:27am
– aid requested for K-9 bite wound12:28am
– driver also detained now12:39am
– both in custody, calling for a tow
A few hours later, Brock Troy Nieuwendorp, age 29, was booked at the Whatcom County Jail and charged with attempting to elude police vehicles, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Discover Ferndale has not confirmed that Nieuwendorp was involved in the chase being reported but his is the only booking for evading at the time.
