WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Whatcom County Auditor Diana Bradrick’s office sent out a warning today, August 12th, to alert Whatcom County residents about thousands of letters incorrectly generated by the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).

The letters, sent on August 4th, incorrectly told vehicle owners their personalized plates would be canceled.

The letters were sent to thousands across the state according to Bradrick. The letters “concern personalized plates that had been transferred to another vehicle,” the warning said.

Vehicle owners are advised to ignore such a letter from the DOL if it is dated August 4, 2021.

Bradrick added, “We recognize the distress this is causing vehicle owners. Department of Licensing is reviewing how the error occurred.”
