FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of LaBounty Drive and Sunset Avenue Saturday, August 27th, about 5;30pm due to a report of an outside fire.

Approximate location of the fire

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Assistant Fire Chief Justin Iverson told Whatcom News the fire was a challenge to battle due to winds at the time. The smoke plume was visible for miles around.

2 vehicles possibly abandoned vehicles were discovered in the field, both having suffered fire damage.

There were no injuries reported. Iverson estimated between 7 and 10 acres were burned.

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine a cause of the fire.
