Blaine man arrested for kidnapping after stealing a car with a juvenile inside

BLAINE, Wash. — A 31-year-old Blaine man is facing felony kidnapping along with other charges after taking a vehicle while a juvenile was seated on the front seat.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News via email that WCSO deputies were dispatched about at about 3:45 pm on July 13 due to a report that a vehicle had been stolen with a juvenile in the front seat at a residence on Hall Road in Blaine.

The male suspect reportedly parked the vehicle several blocks away and left on foot.

Soon after, another citizen reported that a male attempted to enter his vehicle at a nearby location but fled on foot. A witness in the area followed the suspect as he ran northbound on Blaine Road until he was contacted by deputies.

The suspect was identified as Travis Parke from Blaine.

WCSO arrested and booked Parke into the Whatcom County Jail charged with suspicion of the following crimes.

  • 2nd-degree kidnapping
  • vehicle prowling
  • theft of a vehicle

Parke is scheduled to make a preliminary court appearance this afternoon, July 14th.
