This has been an unseasonably cold winter this season with several days of subfreezing temperatures but forecasters are expecting warmer days ahead.

Forecasters are expecting the current weather pattern will undergo a big change on Monday. All models show wet and windy weather over western Washington on Tuesday and especially Wednesday according the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office.

Temperatures are expected to begin climbing Sunday evening from around 32° and peak near 50° midday Wednesday. High and low temperatures are expected to be in the 40s during these days.

With the warmer temperatures will come blustery southeast winds and rain, lots of it. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to receive at least a half-inch of rainfall each day, with nearly an inch possible Tuesday and Wednesday.

This warming will be short-lived as temperatures are expected to return to near-freezing by Friday.
