Bellingham Police are looking for subjects involved in downtown drive-by shooting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police Department (BPD) personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue due to a report of a drive-by shooting.

BPD Lieutenant Claudia Murphy told Whatcom News via email the incident occurred about 1:45am while the downtown area was still busy.

Witnesses told officers there were at least 2 cars involved that fled the area, “a light-colored SUV and a darker colored sedan.”

BPD crime scene investigators located over 10 casings and found bullet holes in 2 parked vehicles. In addition, a window to a bank automated teller machine alcove was shot out.

There were no reported injuries.

We are in the initial stages of the investigation and do not have a motive for the drive-by shooting or who was involved. Bellingham Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy (December 4, 2021)

Murphy said BPD detectives are seeking information regarding the involved vehicles, the identity of the suspects and what led up to the incident.  Anyone with any information at all is asked to contact the BPD.
