Organizers of the Bellingham Scottish Gathering, scheduled to be held June 2nd at Hovander Homestead Park, are hosting an informational meeting for people interested in volunteering. The meeting is scheduled for 5pm, Sunday, April 29th at the Whatcom Educational Credit Union Education Center located at 5659 Barrett Road.

But, before the meeting, according to organizer Heather Richendrfer, “It would be wonderful for people to email (heather@scottishdancesociety.org) to let me know the area where they would like to volunteer [if they have a preference]. That way we can divide them into groups to discuss the various jobs in each area.”

While the theme remains the same, the Bellingham Scottish Gathering, is related only in spirit to the Bellingham Highland Games that preceded it as there are different organizers behind the event.

“This festival has the potential to be one of Whatcom County’s largest cultural events,” Richendrfer said. “We plan to host the event in Ferndale every year and hope to involve the community in presenting a festival we all can be proud of!”
