BELLINGHAM, Wash. — In May of 2020, Bellingham Police Department (BPD) officers arrested Rudy Wray, now age 61, after receiving information and a warrant from Alaska State Troopers. The warrant was for violating the terms of a felony probation sentence on a 2nd-degree murder conviction. He waived extradition and was transferred to the custody of Alaska.
BPD Lieutenant Claudia Murphy told Whatcom News that on Tuesday, August 15th, BPD again received information that Wray was in violation of probation on a 1st-degree robbery sentence.
On Friday, August 18th, BPD officers located Wray in an apartment in the 3100 block of Racine Street. He was detained without incident and booked into Whatcom County Jail under a fugitive from justice warrant.
As of August 22nd, Wray remained in custody without the option to post bail. A hearing in Whatcom County Superior Court is scheduled for September 7th.
