Bellingham fires in Sunnyland neighborhood appear to be arson

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched twice this morning, Thursday, June 30th, due to reports of outside structure fires that appeared to have been intentionally caused.

Approximate location of suspected arson fires

The first dispatch was at about 3:35am at the alley in the 2100 block of King Street and Bellingham Fire Department firefighters arrived to find a shed on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

About 4am firefighters were again dispatched to the 2300 block of King Street and they arrived to find another shed fire.

Both fires appeared to be intentionally set from the outside of the sheds.

It appeared a third fire was attempted at a location between the shed fires.

No injuries were sustained in either fire and an investigation is underway.
