Another multiday snow event is in the forecast

While the Ferndale area has already seen more days with measurable snow on the ground than has occurred in the last two years, there is a possibility for more in the near future.

According to Weather Underground BestForecast, snowfall is expected to begin late Saturday afternoon continuing through at least Wednesday as a wet front moves into the area and temperatures drop to and below freezing.

This weather event is forecast to occur at the same time Ferndale Schools are scheduled to resume classes on Tuesday, January 3rd, after an already extended winter break.

Weather forecast as of 12/26/17 as provided by Weather Underground BestForecast.

Some computer forecast models used by the National Weather Service (NWS) show an Arctic front moving south across the area around New Years Eve that could produce some snowfall over the area. Most models show a period of cold and windy weather with some strong Fraser outflow at times after that.

But, NWS forecasters say, the details are likely to change and model solutions may become inconsistent at times.

The latest weather forecast for the Ferndale area will be updated as more information is available.
