All departments of Whatcom County government hit by phone outage

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Officials with Whatcom County government report today, Wednesday, June 1st, as of 7:30am, they are unable to receive phone calls at their administrative offices.

Whatcom County Information Technology staff are working to resolve the situation which appears to effect calls received by the County’s telephone service provider, Lumen Technologies, formerly known as CenturyLink.

It is recommended to use email to communicate with County staff until the phone system is repaired. No estimate for restoring inbound calling has been provided.

The ability for County staff to make outbound calls has not been impacted and What-Comm 911, a City of Bellingham department, does not use Lumen for phone service and, as such, has reportedly not been impacted.
