Officials from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management announced today that Alcoa Intalco Works, located at 4050 Mountain View Road, will be holding an internal emergency drill Tuesday morning.
The evacuation drill is scheduled to begin at 7am and will be marked by 5 minutes of the active alarm (a “hi-low” alarm) followed by 1 minute of the all-clear alarm (continuous alarm). It is likely the alarms will be audible to nearby neighbors and others not on-site.
As part of the drill, employee’s knowledge of their role during an emergency will be tested. The ability to communicate such an emergency, the responsibilities of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and what is required from those in supervisory roles will be evaluated.
