Nooksack River at Ferndale level forecast as of 2015-01-21 10:30am

It was only yesterday that forecasters assured flooding was unlikely even in the face of heavy rains and already elevated river levels. Today, January 21st, they have retracted that and advised of the possibility of some flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch through Friday night warning that rivers may come close to or reach flood stage.

The Nooksack River level forecast currently indicates the river will crest at a few inches below flood stage (19′) Friday night after 10pm.

The potential for water over roadways near the river is high after the river level passes 17′ which is forecast to occur about noon Friday. Drivers should be alert and monitor Discover Ferndale for news about road closures. Typically impacted roads include:

    • Slater Road
    • Marine Drive
    • Paradise/Barrett Roads
    • W Smith Road west of LaBounty Drive
    • Ferndale Road north and south of Slater Road

Discover Ferndale will be continuing to monitor this situation.
