Lots of sirens in the Portal Way / Grandview area around midnight were the result of a single-car accident northbound I-5 just before the Grandview interchange. A car was reported to have left the freeway and impacted a tree. One witness described the vehicle as “crumpled like an accordion.” Freeway reduced to one lane in the area while troopers investigate. Lots of flashing lights in the sky around 1am were the result of a very active lightning storm over Vancouver Island to the southeast of Ferndale. It was close enough to see but far enough away not to hear.
