72-hour Guide Meridian closure begins Monday

LYNDEN, Wash. — The Duffner Ditch fish passage improvement project is expected to close all lanes of Guide Meridian (SR539) between Main and Front Streets in Lynden from 7pm on Monday, September 18th, through Thursday, September 21st.

The work is expected to replace an existing twin 4-foot by 50-foot round concrete culverts with a 20-foot wide by 95-foot long by 10-foot high box culvert.

A signed detour will direct travelers around the closed section of road as indicated below.

The project is the result of a 2013 court-ordered permanent injunction that requires replacing state-owned culverts that block habitat for salmon and steelhead by 2030.
