BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Co-organizers, City of Bellingham and Whatcom Transportation Authority, of the Bellingham Bike Parade, held Sunday, May 1st, say the event drew over 780 riders.

This year’s rider count nearly matches that reported during the same event also held on May 1st in Bellingham back in 1948. It was estimated that 800 Whatcom County youth rode their decorated bikes down the same street during a May Day bike parade.

Organizers say that while “a number of people” have expressed interest in making this an annual event, that decision has not been made and may be discussed at an upcoming meeting when they review how this year’s event went.
