Laurel, Wash. — Firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of W Laurel Road about 11:35am on Saturday, September 10th, due to a report of a residential structure fire.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen told Whatcom News that firefighters arrived to find flames visible from the attached garage area of the residence.
All occupants were able to safely evacuate although a pet cat was unaccounted for, Van der Veen said. There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.
NWFR was assisted by crews from Lynden Fire Department and Whatcom County Fire District 7. The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The house sustained significant damage throughout including fire damage that spread into the living area adjacent to the garage according to Van der Veen.
