FERNDALE, Wash. — The Whatcom County Public Work Ferry Division announced today they will be conducting mandatory repairs and maintenance to both the Lummi Island and Gooseberry Point docks’ lifting mechanisms during the night time over a 5-day period beginning Sunday, April 26th.
Work will begin after the 10:10pm run from Gooseberry Point each night between Sunday, April 26th and Thursday, April 30th.
The project will require the loading spans be locked in a level position while cables, pulleys, and other gear are replaced. As a result, officials say, there will not be any exceptions or additional runs after the posted last run times due to the nature of the repairs.
