BLAINE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 4600 block of Alderson Road about 9:35am, Monday, May 2nd, due to a report of a residential structure fire.
North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Captain Mike Finley told Whatcom News they arrived to find an interior fire that made its way into the attic which made it a challenge to battle.
The resident got out along with 2 dogs without injury, but 3 cats were lost in the fire according to Finley. The displaced resident was being assisted by the local American Red Cross chapter.
Whatcom Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
