It was only a week ago when waste disposal and recycling operations company Republic Services (previously known as Recomp) announced they were returning to business as usual after suffering fire, smoke and water damage in their office and scale house building from an attic fire Monday, June 20th. But a fire overnight has left the building a total loss.

Just before 2:30am this morning, several engine and ladder trucks from Whatcom County Fire District 7 were dispatched to 1524 Slater Road on a report of a fully involved structure fire at the same location where they had responded over a week ago for an attic fire. By sunrise, the building was destroyed except for the exterior walls.
According to a Republic Services Operations Manager Scott Bissell, they are still able to take care of their industrial customers, again with the help of neighboring business, Parberry Environmental Solutions.
Whatcom Fire Marshal investigators were on the scene this morning. No official word yet on a cause.
