BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Guide Meridian and Axton Road just before 9am today, July 1st, due to a report of a crash.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Will Glahn, a northbound Ford F450 flatbed truck was stopped in the left-turn lane while waiting to make a left turn onto W Axton Road. A northbound Chevrolet Trailblazer entered the left-turn lane and rear-ended the Ford.
WSDOT cameras at the scene showed the hood of the Chevrolet folded up against the windshield after the front of the Chevrolet ended up under the flatbed.
Glahn said both the Chevrolet driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center in Bellingham with serious injuries.
Neither the driver or passenger in the Chevrolet were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash according to Glahn.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. WSP is investigating.
