2-alarm fire at Fairhaven commercial structure

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 1100 block of Harris Avenue about 11:55pm on Saturday, December 16th.

According to witness reports, flames and smoke were visible when firefighters arrived.

8 fire engines, 3 ladder trucks and several ambulances from Bellingham Fire Department (BFD), South Whatcom Fire Authority and Whatcom County Fire District 7 (Ferndale) responded.

BFD fire investigators also responded to the scene.

The building involved houses food service business on the ground floor and professional service businesses on the second floor. It was constructed in the late 1800s and is reportedly the oldest building in Fairhaven.

As of 1am, there had been no reports of injuries.
