FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched Thornton Street, east of Malloy Avenue, due to a report of a vehicle crash.

Nearby residents reported hearing what they described as an odd sound that they assumed was from a nearby residential construction site. But when they heard sirens, they were surprised to find one car nearly on top of another.

Apparently, a black Dodge Charger was eastbound on Thorton Street when it left the road to the south, went through a small ditch and came to rest after slamming into a parked silver Chevrolet Malibu sedan. Police said no one was in the parked car.

Ferndale Police officers at the scene placed the combative driver of a black Dodge Charger into cuffs before he was assisted by Whatcom County Fire District 7 aid personnel.

WCFD7 personnel transported the driver to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Neighbors at the scene said they had seen the Dodge frequently being driven on the road before “like a bat out of hell.”
