1 lane of Truck Road reopened today, emergency repairs completed

DEMING, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works officials announced today, Thursday, March 10th, that Truck Road was reopened today following completion of an emergency riverbank stabilization project that began mid-February. While reopened, it is a single lane road with alternating traffic due to the extent of the erosion that occurred.

Approximate location of the road closure

Truck Road was damaged due to erosion of the Nooksack River riverbank during the mid-November 2021 heavy rains and subsequent disastrous flooding.

Another project to provide environmental mitigation and more permanent road repairs is expected within two years.

Truck road had been closed for 2 months last summer to replace a 5-foot diameter culvert with a 16.75-foot box culvert.
